Welcome to Junior Achievement of Eastern Ontario (JAEO)!

Junior Achievement is the successful link between education and the world of work by giving youth the confidence and knowledge they need to define personal success, enhance their workforce readiness and pursue their dreams.

JAEO is part of an international non-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring young people about business and economics through hands-on learning and mentoring.

Our well-recognized programs emphasize business concepts, life skill development, the importance of teamwork, ethics, goal-setting and individual initiative. The JA experience helps young people discover leadership, entrepreneurial and workforce readiness skills so they can achieve their highest potential and future success as citizens in our global community.

By connecting business professionals with students, JAEO brings real-world business expertise and knowledge directly into the classrooms of Eastern Ontario enhancing and enriching the overall education of today's youth and tomorrow's workforce and young leaders.

JAEO is supported by more than 1100 committed individual and employer-supported volunteers as well as generous donors and investors who enable us to offer quality programming without charge to schools, students or parents.

Did you know?

  • Only 72% of Ontario's youth graduate from high school?
  • Eight out of ten high school students say that they were taught little or nothing in school about how business or the economy works? Yet more than 30% express interest in starting their own business.
  • Many of our youth face issues of poverty and other school challenges. They need help with financial literacy and 'hands' on examples of the advantages of staying in school.
JAEO is responding to the growing need for quality, business-oriented and entrepreneurship programs. With our volunteer and investor partners, we are ready to provide JA business and leadership programs to more than 20,000 students across Eastern Ontario.

Through three program offices JAEO serves the districts of Durham & Kawartha/Lakeshore, Ottawa-Carleton area and Kingston-Hastings and Prince Edward. Our total service area stretches from the Rouge River at the eastern edge of Toronto to the Quebec border, and from Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River north to Algonquin Park.

We invite you to explore our website to discover the exciting Junior Achievement programs available and how you can get involved to make a positive difference for the youth in your community. Our ability to do more is in the hands of those who believe in our mission and share our passion for investing in the youth of Eastern Ontario.
